Choo Choo Square Dance - Les Gotcher
Creator: Let Gotcher (1951)
Les Gotcher is often remember today as the Hashmaster, known for his flamboyant outfits, his energetic calls, and his often challenging choreographic sequences. However, like other performers, he was trying to tap into all aspects of the square dance boom. This example comes from his "Square Dances for Young Folks" record, a conscious attempt to reach a school audience, as did Ed Durlacher, Richard Kraus, Bob Ruff, and many others. You'll note that the tempo (110 bpm) is more relaxed than we associate with Gotcher, and of course the dance itself is much simpler. Other titles on the release are: Indian War Dance, Merry-Go-Round Square Dance, and Loopt-Loop
