Yellow Rose of Texas - Dad Brundage
Dad Brundage was the father of Al and Bob Brundage, each of whom became well-known modern square dance callers. In his autobiography, This Is My Square Dancing Life, Bob Brundage writes, "Then when I left for college in 1941, also at the University of Maine, Dad started to call dances at home. Everyone thought that Al and I learned to call from Dad but the opposite is actually true. Dad was not a musician in spite of his singing and Drum Corps experience but he had a knack for entertainment and he was very well accepted."
Although Al and Bob became enthusiasts of the newer modern style of square dancing, in this recording Dad Brundage follows a traditional singing pattern, going through the same sequence four times.
The A side of the recording features Al Brundage calling "Oh, You Beautiful Doll." The credited musicians are the Funstitutors.
