Camp Becket - child's view of square dance camp
Creator: Kihm Winship (2006)
Camp Becket in western Massachusetts was the regular venue for square dance camps. Caller Herbie Gaudreau, who named many of his dances for locations in his dance universe, created the Becket Reel. (In the contra dance universe, that's given its name to "Becket formation" contras, where dancers stand next to their partner in long lines, rather than across from each other.)
This is a memory piece on what it was like to be a child at a dance camp many decades ago.
