Dudley Laufman – Prisoner's Song
Title
Dudley Laufman – Prisoner's Song
Subject
Northern / Singing
Description
Dudley Laufman says he never heard this dance called by anyone other than Lyn Cady, and it was always done to the tune of "If I Had the Wings of an Angel."
Dudley Laufman calls a program of "Old Time Vermont Square Dances" from the repertoire of Lyn Cady. Cady was the dance master at the Sherburne (VT) Center Grange Hall, to which the Farm & Wilderness Camps in nearby Plymouth, VT, took the campers. This was recorded in August, 1989, on the 50 anniversary reunion of F&W Camps. Dudley was calling and fiddling, joined by Jacqueline Gilman Laufman on fiddle and Tony Parkes (a former F&W camper) on piano. Additional instruments (drums, saxophone, banjo) to replicate the sound of Lyn Cady's band were added by synthesizer by Dave Fuller to augment the original recording by Slim Harrison.
