Gents Three-Quarter Star - Bob Dalsemer
Bob Dalsemer calls at the Dare To Be Square weekend held November 18-20, 2011, at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC. The dance was composed by the great New England caller Ted Sannella, and is published in Ted's book "Swing the Next." Suffering from an acute case of Dance Weekenditis (aka lack of sleep), Bob calls the opening sequence of the figure incorrectly and manages to dig himself out of a fluffed call at the end. The dancers, also suffering from the same ailment, hardly notice.
Musicians are Steve Hickman and Jim Morrison, fiddles; Claudio Buchwald, piano; Sam Bartlett, banjo. The tune is "Bay of Fundy."
The weekend was sponsored by the Folk School and by Country Dance and Song Society. It brought six well-known callers and 70 square dance enthusiasts together to explore many different styles of squares, including both traditional and modern.
