Peek-a-Boo Square Dance called by Larry Edelman
Creator: Larry Edelman (Nov. 20, 2011)
Larry Edelman calls at the Dare To Be Square weekend held November 18-20, 2011, at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC. In addition to the basic figure, which he demonstrates at the start, he calls a Pokey Eight (aka bouquet waltz) for a break, in which two groups of four whirl around each other on the floor to change positions. Toward the end of the dance (at 6:15) he has foursomes do the Pokey Eight just halfway around, then "Reel the set!" with right hand to opposite, left hand to partner...
Musicians are Steve Hickman and Claudio Buchwald, fiddles; Jim Morrison, guitar; Sam Bartlett, banjo. The tune is "Take Me Back to Tulsa."
You can also watch this Peek-A-Boo Over figure taught by West Virginia caller Bill Ohse.
