Square dance at the Tractor Tavern - Seattle
The Tallboys host a bi-monthly square dance at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood that is wildly popular with the under-30 crowd. Also featured is caller Charmaine Slaven. This video was created by Doug Plummer.
Seattle has a long history of square dancing, with revival dances being held back in this same venue (under a different name) in the 1970s with Sandy Bradley calling. There's a strong connection between Seattle and Portland, Oregon, with a group of musicians and bands favoring old-time southern Appalachian tunes and dances, and callers eager to provide appropriate dances for that music. See other videos on this site about Portland.
Note: The venue used to be the New Melody Tavern, the scene of dancing in decades past.
