Square Dancing in the Mountains of Eastern Kentucky
NOTE: To read the actual booklet, choose the links above. Numbers 1 & 3 are large files and, depending on your internet speed, might take a while to load.
This 1971 collection begins with a somewhat romanticized introduction to dancing in the region. Dance descriptions include figures for the Kentucky Running Set and the Big Set, as well as four-couple squares, some simple Western square dances, and four round dances (including a simplified version of Salty Dog Rag). The publication concludes with a description of square dancing led by one of the authors at Hoedown Island, in the Natural Bridge State Resort Park.
Part 1 goes through page 29 in the booklet.
Part 2 is a section of photographs in the middle.
Part 3 starts on page 31 and begins with break figures.
