Duluth Stomp
Lisa Greenleaf / Jim Saxe (January 13, 2018)
Square dance figure originally created by Lloyd Yesberger (Duluth, MN) and published in Sets in Order, March, 1953. Caller Jim Saxe took the dance and modified it, keeping the key figure, the series of four different waves. This clip shows the figure being danced twice for the side couples, and yes, there are some dancer mistakes. The original calls by Yesberger (see Related Item) include wording that today's traditional square dancers -- and, for that matter, modern square dancers-- might have trouble following.
Recorded January 13, 2018, at the Ralph Page Dance Legacy Weekend, Durham, NH, with Lisa Greenleaf calling; music by the Sugar River Band (Jane Orzechowski, fiddle; Russell Orzechowski, piano; Sarah Bauhan, flute).
