FAIR STAGES WORLD'S BIGGEST BARN DANCE
More than 700 square dancers, hill billy bands and square dance orchestras stampeded into the Fair grounds today to take part in the "World's Biggest Barn Dance" in the Court of Peace. Farmers came with their wives and families dressed in costumed ranging from the gay '90's to hilarious burlesques of vaudeville days of a decade ago. There were 84 square dance sets (8 dancers to a set), 22 hill billy bands and 16 callers, all of world champion calibre. Photo shows: Edward Durlacher, chamption caller of North Belmore, Long Island.
