Henry Hudson - Texas fiddler
This photo shows Texas fiddler Henry Hudson standing with dance leader and organizer Lillie Lee Baker. (The boy at left is holding the 78 rpm album of Texas Square Dance Music that was recorded in 1946 by Hudson and his Fiddle Band.) Hudson was an Austin musician and close associate of Baker, and went with her to lead square dancing at events in North Carolina and even to Venice, Italy!
The other two photos illustrate his 1946 album of 4 tunes, included in the accompanying item.
Marlys Swenson Waller knew Henry Hudson in the 1940s and comments, "He always played alone--never with a group at the Festivals. He paddled where Lilie Lee took him!"
