Smoke on the Water - Tod Whittemore
Tod Whittemore is the caller; music is provided by Bob McQuillen, piano; Randy Miller, fiddle, and Peter Siegel, mandolin. This was part of a dance workshop on singing squares, recorded on January 15, 2011, at the 24th annual Ralph Page Dance Legacy Weekend in Durham, NH.
Named in honor of the great New England caller of contra and square dances, the RPDLW celebrates the traditions of New England style dancing, including dances and music that are centuries old and those that have been composed more recently.
Smoke on the Water was a huge hit for square dance caller Pancho Baird. You can read a detailed interview with him here and listen to his original recording of the dance. There's also an audio clip of Duke Miller calling this on the page devoted to his dance series.
